Motown United Ministries began in
December, 2003 when invitation letters were sent to eight ministries that
Trinity Lutheran Church in Utica, MI partners with. Due to lack of volunteers,
the only ministries able to commit were Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries and MCREST.
Although not a financial benefiting
partner, Trinity Lutheran Church in Utica, MI provides the state licensed
kitchen, storage space, leadership, and well over half of the volunteers needed
to make the products and sell them. This commitment is made as a way of living
out their faith in Jesus Christ...and serving as the hands and feet of Christ. Ephesians 2:10 is a key verse they stand on. Check out all three web sites. We
think you will be so impressed by what they do, you might see other needs that
you can help with. 2005 saw $11,000 split with $5,000 each to DRMM and to MCREST. They tithed, with $1,000 being split among six other area ministries who shelter
and feed the homeless. "M.U.M.'s Soup" is grateful for the support we have
received. When possible, we use local products including Michigan grown beans
from the Saginaw Valley, flour ground at Star of the West in Frankenmuth, boxes
made by Michigan Box, and shipping tubes by APAC.
Thank you for your interest and your
purchases. Know that as you are enjoying your meal of soup, or that batch of
brownies, the profits of Motown Soup are being shared not among stockholders,
but among men/women/children living in shelters and/or receiving meals that they
would not normally have had access to.
Thank you. "When I was hungry......you fed
me."
